Since its establishment in April 2004 as Australia’s first through-chain regulatory agency, the NSW Food Authority continues to work to improve standards in food safety.

Working in close cooperation with its partners, industry and the wider community, the NSW Food Authority has carved out a reputation as a leader and innovator in the realm of food safety.

In addition to its state regulatory function, the Authority plays an important role in contributing to national food safety and standards. I am proud to say that it consistently achieves in the areas of science and research, public education, compliance, enforcement and surveillance work.

It is the commitment of the NSW Liberals & Nationals Government and the ongoing work of the Authority, their partners and industry, that ensures consumers can expect better food safety in NSW.

Through the strength of this partnership food businesses are encouraged and supported to do the right thing and consumers are assisted to make informed choices.

I look forward to working with the Authority to assist in developing its role as a leader in food safety and labelling.

I encourage you to take some time to explore this website, which acts as a one-stop-shop for food safety in NSW. It offers a comprehensive explanation, in a variety of different languages, of what it is the NSW Food Authority does and how it can help you make clearer food safety choices.
