Plant product industries

Initial benchmark

In 2005, new legislation required NSW businesses that produce high-priority plant products to implement HACCP-based food safety programs.  Five product groups were identified as high priority.

This study collected benchmark data to assess industry preparedness for the legislation. The poster below summarises the study.

Sprouts follow-up

In 2008, a follow up survey was undertaken to determine if the microbiological quality of sprouts improved after producers implemented mandatory HACCP food safety programs.

This summary report on findings from the survey was provided to the industry.

Part of the results are shown below, along with the survey report.

Chart showing the results of sprout surveys conducted in 2005, 2006 and 2008.
