The NSW Food Authority approves independent auditors to carry out regulatory food safety audits for licensed food businesses in NSW through the Regulatory Food Safety Auditor System.
Approved auditors are also known as third party auditors (TPAs).
The Regulatory Food Safety Auditor System operates under the following conditions:
- Only food businesses with a satisfactory audit and compliance history may apply to use a TPA.
- TPAs must meet qualification, training and assessment requirements and be individually approved by the Food Authority.
- Audit results must be submitted to the Food Authority for verification of both auditors and food businesses.
- The system complies with the National food safety audit policy and the National food safety auditor guideline.
