Hygiene heroes on hand at 2025 event
Thousands of children and adults tested how well they could wash their hands before handling food at our 2025 Sydney Royal Easter Show stand.
Using a special Glitterbug ‘glow in the dark’ potion, visitors were guided in correct hand sanitising and washing before they checked their techniques using UV lights. We also gave out our new fun children's book - Sam and Lee's Micro Mission! (PDF, 7MB)
Planning has already begun for our 2026 stand – watch this space!

Resources
Community food allergy awareness survey 2024
Showgoers in 2024 took part in our allergy awareness survey, which sought the community’s knowledge of and experiences with food allergies.
Australia has one of the highest food allergy rates in the world, with one in 10 infants, one in 20 teens and about one in 50 adults affected.
See the results on the Food allergy awareness survey 2024 page.
Lunchbox survey 2023
We asked children about their lunchboxes in our 2023 Easter Show survey to find out what foods they were taking, and whether they were keeping them cold.
The majority of children indicated great food safety behaviours by keeping their lunch in the shade or inside and using insulated lunch bags and ice bricks.
Full results are on our Lunch boxes page.
