Food Regulation Partnership

Dining out at a restaurant

The NSW Food Authority and local councils work together to make sure food sold to the public is safe and properly labelled. This collaboration is formalised in an agreement between the Food Authority and each local council called the Food Regulation Partnership, or FRP.

The main role of councils in the partnership is to inspect retail food businesses and to investigate food safety complaints.

The Food Authority supports councils by providing training, guidance, resources and opportunities to connect with Food Authority staff, other councils, and the food businesses they inspect.
