FRP Workshop
The NSW Food Authority invites all local government authorised officers to attend a biennial Food Regulation Partnership Workshop.
Held over 2 days, the professional development event includes the latest information on food safety, topical discussions and networking opportunities, and showcases the extraordinary work of councils.
As attendance is restricted, registration information is emailed directly to authorised officers.
The next FRP Workshop will be held in 2027.
Retail and Food Service Information Sessions
The Food Authority partners with local councils to deliver information sessions for retail food businesses at 3 NSW locations each year.
The free sessions include presentations on food safety and are a great opportunity to raise awareness and generate discussion between businesses, councils and the NSW Food Authority.
The next Retail and Food Service Information Session will be co-hosted with City of Canterbury Bankstown in June 2025.
Engagement opportunities
The Food Authority conducts 3 rounds of Regional Food Group meetings at each of the 16 regions across NSW every year. Each meeting has 2 components:
- general discussion on topical food safety issues, which provides an opportunity to problem solve with colleagues from other areas and develop regionally-consistent approaches to local issues
- a professional development session.
A Statewide Liaison Group, comprising representatives from each of the regions, also meets quarterly to discuss issues of statewide significance.
Regional Food Group and State Liaison Group meeting dates are outlined in the training and events calendar available on request. Invitations are sent directly to authorised officers.
A Managers Forum, held annually, is an important opportunity for consultation with enforcement agency decision makers on key state-wide and national food safety matters, strategies, projects and initiatives, and provides an opportunity to raise issues and concerns at a senior level.
Food Regulation Forum
The Food Regulation Forum (Forum) was established under the NSW Food Act 2003 to assist, evaluate and provide advice to the Food Authority in relation to the Food Regulation Partnership.
The Forum is not intended to have a day-to-day operational role.
The Forum meets twice a year to assist the Food Authority in developing guidelines, protocols and support programs through high level evaluation and advice.
