About 68 representatives from retail food businesses in the Hornsby region gathered for an engaging food safety information session on Tuesday 28 October 2025.

The Retail and Food Service Information Session was proudly hosted by the Food Authority’s Local Government Unit (LGU) in partnership with Hornsby Shire Council and officially opened by Central Coast Mayor Cr Warren Waddell.

Key food safety topics discussed including compliance and legislation, preventing foodborne illness, effective cleaning and sanitising, and the Food Regulation Partnership.

Attendees also had the opportunity to engage with fantastic information stallholders - Sydney Water, Service NSW Small Business Bureau, Vibrancy Initiative (NSW Government), NSW Liquor & Gaming, and Hornsby Shire Council — who also provided valuable resources and insights throughout the day.

The NSW Food Authority delivers 3 retail and food service information sessions each year to help support and strengthen a culture of food safety across the retail food sector. Building and maintaining strong food safety practices ensures food remains safe and helps protect customers from foodborne illness.
