Joining the program

Scores on Doors is the NSW food hygiene scoring program that displays the results of food premises inspections.  

Restaurants, takeaways, cafes, bistros, bakeries, hotels and clubs may volunteer for the program in participating council areas.  

Scores on Doors brings a range of benefits to participating councils, including:

  • inspection visibility: Display of certificates and stickers are a street-level reminder council is actively maintaining and promoting hygiene and food safety in businesses
  • compliance incentives: Public visibility of ratings helps incentivise food premises to maintain and improve their food safety culture, which can lead to greater levels of compliance and therefore less need for action or follow ups
  • no additional work: The program uses the Food Premises Assessment Report (FPAR) that councils already use for food premises inspections. Resources are supplied by the Food Authority
  • business benefits: Certificates and stickers can be a tool for businesses to attract greater custom.

Running the program

The following resources are available to help councils get the most out of the Scores on Doors program:

Authorised officers can order Scores on Doors stickers and certificates by emailing food.contact@dpird.nsw.gov.au or phoning 1300 552 406. Materials can only be sent to council addresses.
